Hello, I'm back
I've decided to restart my blog.
For those of you who are new here, here is the story of the old blog: Jacqueline went to college and majored in economics. Jacqueline decided to go to graduate school and become a development economist. Jacqueline ran as the Libertarian candidate for Secretary of State in Washington. Jacqueline failed integral calculus and realized that economics graduate school was probably not for her. Jacqueline decided to become a professional blogger/gambler and move to Costa Rica after graduation instead. Jacqueline dated various men and went on various diets. Jacqueline posted inflammatory things to her blog and sometimes the whole internet showed up to heckle! Jacqueline moved to Las Vegas. Jacqueline ran out of money (damn you, Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act!) and got a job at a local robotics company. Jacqueline got married. When we last saw our heroine, she was newlywed, still working at the robotics company a bazillion hours a week, and about to start an MBA degree program. Jacqueline decided that she didn't have time to blog anymore.
Fast forward to the present day: I'm still living in Las Vegas, enjoying married life. I recently quit my job at the robotics company (great people, but I realized that I don't like working in a startup environment) to concentrate on school full time. I discovered that I really, really like accounting so I'm transferring from the MBA program to a MS Accounting program in the fall; meanwhile I'm completing some prerequisite accounting classes via distance learning. I've put on some newlywed pudge and I'm trying to get back into exercising regularly. Between work, school, and husband I haven't had time to do much else for the past nine months. :(
My original blog was created while procrastinating from doing a statistics class assignment, so it seems fitting that this new incarnation be created while procrastinating from doing an accounting class assignment. :) I'm back to my old home at TypePad because I decided that WordPress was too much trouble to fuss with and I didn't want to keep pestering Andrew every five seconds to help me with something. I'm mapping my http://www.jacquelinepassey.com/ domain to here -- so, please link to that if you want to link here (I think this blog will still be showing up at a typepad.com domain for another day or two). I've set up various feed subscription options, and I'm playing with all the new "widgets" TypePad has to offer, so the sidebar will probably be in flux for a while. I'm not going to tolerate any crap in the comments, so be nice to each other and me. I will be hosting Battlestar Galactica open threads again, so please stop by Friday nights for those.
Welcome back!
Wow! I am glad I never get around to cleaning out my bloglines account!

Jacqueline has taken to referring to herself in the third person.

THERE you are! We missed you!
And I can authoritatively say "we" and not just "me", as half of the traffic to my website was from people doing searches on your name, presumably trying to figure out where you were.
Now my traffic will be down to just my two regulars. ;)

I'm glad to see you're back in the saddle again. Drop me a line sometime!

No crap in the comments?? Holy crap! What's up with that crap?!?

There's a slight misconfiguration going on: jacquelinepassey.com directs to here, but www.jacquelinepassey.com throws a 404.

Yeah, the domain is still propagating to the new location or something. It should work for everyone in a day or two.

I knew there was a reason to check Tyler's blog daily - and not for the food reviews either.
Glad you are back.

Four posts in one day? How am I supposed to keep up with that, especially considering all those other blogs you gave me for 'homework'?

Development economics to management to accounting.
Let's see. Business is a game, but what role do you have in it? Your ambitions went from recruiting more players to playing the game to keeping score.
Wow, I just put it the least flattering way possible. Best ignore this comment.

"So, you still getting free rooms (and offers) from Harrah's (LOL)"
No, my Diamond card expired at the end of last month. It was a good run while it lasted, though!

"Your ambitions went from recruiting more players to playing the game to keeping score."
I think of it more as narrowing down to a specialization. Accounting is both easy and interesting for me, but apparently isn't for most other people. This is similar to what I experienced in my economics classes, except accounting leads more directly to a career. It can also be a lot more than just "keeping score".
I'll write a "why accounting?" blog post sometime that explains my interest more thoroughly.

Muahahaha! The blogosphere has roped you back in.
And to think....I was just about to update my insanely dated/broken links on my blog and move yours to the scrap pile.
