LAWYERS ASSEMBLE!
My brother is chortling over the impending legal "clusterfuck" in other states once California starts marrying gays on June 16. California does not require residency to get married there (whereas Massachusetts does), so this is a much bigger deal than when Massachusetts legalized gay marriage.
I think this comment sums the situation up nicely:
People forget that the constitution built so many two-way streets.
"You forget that we allow gay marriages!"
"You forget that we banned them!"
"Hey, fuck you."
"NO, fuck you!"
"LAWYERS ASSEMBLE!"And then two nice ladies who live in a bungalow have to watch as their love is basically slapped around by supporters and enemies.
In related news, George Takei (Sulu) is planning a fabulous gay wedding for September, to be attended by many of the Star Trek cast.
Takei's best man at the Sept. 14 ceremony is to be Walter Koenig, who played Chekhov on "Star Trek," while Nichelle Nichols who played Uhura on the series, is to be matron of honor, the Post said.
Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock, is also to be a guest at the Sept. 14 ceremony.
Now, I can understand Bones and Scotty not showing, as they are dead. But no Kirk? What up wit dat?

They're probably just not willing to pay Shatner's appearance fee.

I don't think anyone on the original Star Trek likes Shatner much, he wasn't very nice.

And anyway, it's a wedding not a convention. (Oh PLEASE, don't tell me Creation Cons is catering the thing)

True, but I had gotten the impression that they had buried that particular hatchet years ago. Or maybe not?

Shawn, They're gay; I'm sure they know a lot of caterers.

They may be terrified that he'll sing.
